On Contemplating Aging

Happy not to 

highlight and dye

cover up my glorious silver strands 

but honestly I've been a little upset 

about how my curls are starting to fall flat

now that, that was just totallly unexpected, just as I perfected 

the art of self love, a new level of self-acceptance 

is all in my face?  & all around me 

seem to be annoying little 

references of "getting old" 

and yeah yeah yeah 

this is a part of life and we're wrapping up 

another decade of this whole new century 

of primitive problems but if we're about

evolution we'd better be creating a society 

where what's trending ceases to glorify 

youth and what fashion dictates

where we encourage aging artistically

be creative about it, as in original

make becoming ancient an art 

and the wisdom that comes with it,
