Mar Bella Morning

Mar
     bella
          morning

las nubes de enero
               floating
flo flo flotando
               que lindo dia
          paz
calm
          with my sister
knowing the breeze like my own breath

the definition of my spanglish sanity
lies in this grain of sand
in this gentle wave
in this gentle ocean
who draws us into her soft arms
on this winter day / today the waters are peaceful
and we swim one more swim before having to leave this island again
this beautiful sea
this melody / tan preciosa

ART FROM CHAOS

What are we doing?
Debris flies every which way.
Some days are like this.

on the twelfth day after Christmas

it seems everyone but me
has taken down the tree
put the decorations away
but i’m not ready
not sure when i’ll ever be
this year i even bought a potted tree

Darren

Honeysuckle man
bristle beard
eyes like a sleepy morning spent laughing at existence-
gone.
is a weed in springtime
death
is a wisping breeze
of terror and adoration
the open bed of a truck at dawn
careening over potholes
May your memory be a blessing.

More Vibrations/Electromagnetic Smog

Smoked quartz in a cage,
the divining pendulum,
I'll wear round my neck,
and lean somewhat,
tap the tip to the phone,
and ask of the messages:
rattle to and fro,
keep our diamonds bobbing.

And today,
smoked quartz here as well,
behind which me and mum were
waving.

We left before you did,
I couldn't see you,
but a mother's triangulation,
she was getting her eye in,
and suddenly my old Walkman,
the dying drone of it -
it was me who pulled her away,
I can't wave you waving me,
waving is the coach fixed to a point,
it shifts into neutral,
handbrake released,
the world turns until it's somewhere else.

Lawrenceville

When I was unemployed

I lost my ability to parallel park

I don't know I just kept fucking it up

I hope you saw my perfect cut

Between the cars on Butler Ave

As a phoenix dance

I choreographed for you.

Variables to half-born mind

If she could move her hands fast enough
she could catch water tumbling from the faucet
and tie it in a knot.
If she could see inside the thing
then she wouldn't need to unwrap it.
If she could know without knowing-
If she could try a different direction -
If the gourd was still growing
after plucked from the vine.
If the knife was sharper-
If the sun was longer-
