In this, the first year

of the new future

of the Lefferts Boulevard Bridge

I finally feel at ease.

Where once was a hole

in my floor, shining down

upon the railroad tracks

now I offer a

non-alcoholic toast 

with a bevy of elders

all of whom

are saved for the time being.
