What they used to call the tunnel of love

She sits waiting

Desperate

Confused holding out for one last meaningful embrace

Complexity across the table

On blackboards filled with equations

Sentimental considerations as a palpable scream

Crosses the dessert

Holding forth a crown of thorns

The rendezvous at midnight

Calling out into the vastness of possibilities

Strangers in the night exchanging Instagram feeds

Lovers in a virtual relationship

Portrayed by actors with mysterious accents

I crawl out from the cavernous wasteland

Wishing for the moment to be washed away

Into the ocean of time I have wasted

Searching

For only what the heart can know.
